Welcome
Welcome, we are glad you are here
This page shows what each WhatsApp group is for. Join whichever ones sound good. Skip the rest. Nothing here is required.
Not a member yet? Join the community. Complete the form and expect a WhatsApp invitation within one week.
Once you join: a simple starting route
- 1
The invite link puts you in the Community and the Newcomers group. Say hello there, only if you want to. Lurking is fine too.
- 2
Read Announcements for community news and hosted events. You can mute it and stay in the Community. Leaving the whole Community removes access to Announcements; apply again on the website if you want to return.
- 3
Choose one group about something you enjoy. Tap the Community name to find the group list. Read first, react, or reply when ready. General is optional and busy.
You can stop after any step. There is no deadline to participate. You can reply to an existing conversation instead of starting one. A message receiving no reply does not mean you did something wrong.

If it gets loud
- Lurking is fine in every group.
- Mute any group. Leave optional groups and rejoin through the Community whenever you want.
- Keep Announcements for community news, even if you mute it.
Start here
Nothing here is required. Join whichever groups sound good.

Newcomers and introductions
Quiet
Say hello once, at your own pace. Replies are welcome, and questions about the community are fine. No off-topic chat. Lurking is fine too.
If you are unsure how to start: Read quietly, or try: “Hi, I’m ___. I enjoy ___. I’m happy to read for now.”

General
Busy
Optional and busy. Lighthearted chat that fits nowhere else. Memes welcome.
If you are unsure how to start: Read for a day first, then reply to one message you enjoyed or share one meme.

Social events
Member-led in-person plans that are not board games: movies, quizzes, outings.
If you are unsure how to start: Reply to a plan you like, or say which area you are in and what you would join.

Board games
Organise board games for anyone, any experience level. Every Friday night there are games at the Science Centre in Observatory. Coordinate here.
If you are unsure how to start: Ask who is joining on Friday and what games people will bring.
Chat on WhatsApp
Nothing to organise. Open, read, reply when you want.

Special interests and info-dumping
Share your own special interest so others can learn about the thing and about you.
If you are unsure how to start: Post one thing you are enthusiastic about and tell us why.

Crosswords and puzzles
Wordle, Connections, Flagle and friends. Share your score, join the occasional collaborative crossword.
If you are unsure how to start: Share a result from a daily game, or ask which game to start with.

Music
Share tracks you enjoy or hyper-fixate on: Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music links.
If you are unsure how to start: Post one song you have on repeat right now.

Food
Safe foods and recipe sharing. Shared Google Drive holds the collection.
If you are unsure how to start: Share one safe food or ask for one recipe.

Video games
Talk about games, find people to play with, hear about Jackbox nights. All announcements for game nights land here.
If you are unsure how to start: Say what you play and whether you want company.

Creative corner
Share your own human-made writing, music, drawing, art. No AI-generated work.
If you are unsure how to start: Post one thing you made, finished or not.

Wins
The opposite of venting. Good things, proud moments, small or big.
If you are unsure how to start: Share one good thing from this week.
Do things together
These groups exist to meet up, online or in person. Anyone can propose something.

Hiking
Member-led walks, hikes, birding. Nothing centrally hosted: if you want to go, ask who wants to join.
If you are unsure how to start: Ask who walks in your area, or when the next walk at your difficulty is.

Coworking and body-doubling
Work alongside others: Google Meet link, quiet Discord, or ad-hoc in-person coffee-shop sessions.
If you are unsure how to start: Ask if anyone is working your hours and wants company, or reply when someone calls the next session.
Support and shape
Sensitive topics and admin. Read the pinned rules before posting here.

Vent and support
Peer support, not therapy: small frustrations to big struggles. Add trigger warnings on heavy posts. No medical advice or judgement. Treat messages as private, but disappearing messages do not guarantee confidentiality: people can still save them.
If you are unsure how to start: Read for a while first, then share one small frustration. In an emergency use the hotlines, not this group.

Mental health
Mental health, diagnosis, chronic illness. Share personal experience and useful research. No ads, pitches, supplements, doses, or cure claims. Not professional help.
If you are unsure how to start: Share one personal experience, and say what helped you.

Community feedback and ideas
Quiet
Ideas for admins, discussion with members, admin polls about other groups. Optional, a bit meta.
If you are unsure how to start: Post one idea at a time, or answer an admin question.
Quiet for now
Open but slow. Join if the topic matters to you.

Career
Quiet
Work and career advice and support. Keep memes out so questions stay visible.
If you are unsure how to start: Ask one concrete question about work.

Dungeons and Dragons
Quiet
Find or form a D&D group. There are no centrally hosted games: groups form when members start them.
If you are unsure how to start: Ask if any group has space, or if anyone wants to start a new group. Say whether you want to play or run, and where.
How this community works
Reference for later. You do not need to read this before joining a group.
Lurking and replying
- You never have to reply. Most people just read. That is completely fine.
Getting help
- Admins are reachable on WhatsApp: reply to the Divergent Tabletop number that sent your invite, or tap any group name and message an admin listed there.
- If something feels wrong, message an admin. An admin will help or take action.
- Feeling shy about posting in a group or messaging someone? Message an admin first and ask for guidance. We will give you a second opinion.
How we talk to each other
- This is a neurodiverse community. People communicate differently. Read with care. If a message feels off, ask for clarification instead of assuming.
- No spam. No adverts unless an admin approved them first. Memes belong in General. The other groups each have their own topic, so keep memes out of them.
- Before your first post in a group, open its description: tap the group name at the top of the chat. That is where the specific rules, helplines, and links live, especially in Vent and support.
Where things happen
- Big hosted events and any group changes are always announced in Announcements. You will not miss them.
- Smaller plans live in their own groups: board game nights in Board games, outings in Social events, online play in Video games.
- Feedback on the groups, events, or this page is welcome in Community feedback and ideas, or by replying to the number that sent you the invite link.
Direct messages
- Making friends here is encouraged. Ask in the shared group before sending a direct message (DM): “Would you be comfortable if I sent you a DM?” Wait for a yes. No reply is not permission. You can also offer: “Hey X, feel free to send me a DM.” Permission for one conversation does not mean ongoing contact.
- You never have to reply to a direct message. Ignoring one is fine.
- If a direct message makes you uncomfortable, you can stop replying, block the sender, or contact an admin. You do not have to confront the sender first.
Stuck or overwhelmed?
- Mute the busy groups. Keep Announcements only for a while.
- The community guidelines you read still apply in every group.
- New members apply through the website, then receive a WhatsApp invitation.
- Stuck? Just reply to the number that sent you the invite link.
