How We Operate

Divergent Tabletop is a peer-led social community, not a replacement for therapy, counseling, or professional mental health services. We provide informal peer support through social events and community connection.

What you need to know

👥 Who's this for?

  • Adults (18+ only)—this is a grown-up space
  • Neurodivergent folks (ADHD, autism, OCD, bipolar, BPD, etc)

💬 Respect & Kindness

  • Be patient with others' communication styles and energy levels
  • No hate speech, slurs, or personal attacks—zero tolerance
  • We welcome LGBTQIA+ members
  • Tone can be hard to read; assume good intent

🤝 Consent & Boundaries

  • No unsolicited DMs
  • No unsolicited advice or "fixing"
  • No NSFW content
  • If someone says "no", respect it without question or pushback

📣 Notifications & Noise

  • Avoid excessive off-topic chatter in announcement/event groups
  • Keep messages relevant and clear in focused groups

Is this group only for autism?
We welcome all neurodivergent adults in Cape Town, including those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other neurodivergent traits. Our focus is on building connections through social events and board games.
Is a formal diagnosis required to join Divergent Tabletop?
We believe in inclusivity, and welcome the self-diagnosed, peer-reviewed, and self-exploring.
Can I come to an event on my own?
Of course! Most of our members also come alone, and we encourage you to join us.
What if I'm anxious and not sure what to expect?
You are not alone! We understand that social situations can be daunting. Our community is here to support you, and we encourage you to take your time and join us when you feel comfortable.
Do I need to be good at board games?
This space is primarily for neurodivergent people, the board games are just a fun way to connect and socialize. No prior knowledge is required.
What if I don't like board games?
No problem! Our community is about connecting with others, so if board games aren't your thing, you're still welcome to join us and connect in other ways.
Can I just join the WhatsApp community?
That is fine! You can still join our WhatsApp group to connect with other members and share ideas.
